Dear Mother Rec'd your letter but have not much to write so this care will do for this time. I will send that paper back to you next time I write you a letter and that picture I did get and give my thanks to Aunt Bartos for thinking of me. Have nothing new to write only I am working nights - changed yesterday will work for a month nights it was kind of warm when we worked daytime but it's fine and cool there nights I like the work pretty good small pay but I don't want to wrk har could have got more but harder work so rather took an easier job. just not to be idle and have a good place for winter With best wishes to you and all at ahome Don't forget JQ and Aunt and Uncle Joe Bartos if you see them. I just happened to pick this card out of the about 50 that are left -- and it is exactly 100 years old to the day.
Moonlight in the Royal Gorge. The eight-mile journey through the Royal Gorge is probably the acme of solemnity in the world trip. Especially is this fact impressed upon the traveler who is fortunate enough to pass through the Gorge on a bright moonlight night. The Gorge is the most remarkable chasm through which a train passes, the granite walls rising in some places to a height of more than half a mile.
Since this card is from Colorado, I expect that Annie got it from her Brother John who worked there.

Dear Mother I am sending you a postal the way we had on 4th of July every thing was under water. Mother there where the cross is; is part of our house that is in the alley, or I mean taken through the alley way. the water was taking sidewalk's away on many palaces, we didn't have any water by our house but our neighbor couldn't get out of their house Frank had to take a boat and give them some planks by the house so they could get out.

if you take the numbers for letters of the alphabet, it spells Johsek -- so I have no idea what the numbers mean.
